Today is Thursday, January 27th, 2022.

And we begin with some big news expected from the nation's highest court.

People media outlets are reporting that the oldest Supreme Court justice, 83-year-old

Stephen Breyer, will retire at the end of the current term.

According to CNN, he'll join President Biden at a White House event as early as today

to make the announcement official.

The vacancy will allow Mr. Biden to nominate his first new justice, who must then be

confirmed by the Senate before taking his or her seat at the bench.

There's already been much speculation about whom the president will choose and whether

he will fulfill his campaign promise to nominate the first black woman to the high court.
