And we begin with the University of Michigan football team capping off a controversial college season with a national championship.

Last night's title game against Washington was billed as a battle of the unbeatens,

but the Wolverines overpowered the Huskies from beginning to end.

The final score, 34 to 13. It's Michigan's first

championship since the 1997-98 season and comes just months after the

program was rocked by allegations of recruiting violations and sign stealing.

Now all eyes turn to the team's coach Jim Harbaw and chatter that he might return to the NFL

instead of continuing to lead his alma mater.

There's trouble for the first American mission to the moon in more than 50 years.

Just after 2 a.m. yesterday morning a rocket carrying the

Peregrin Lunar Lander blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida, but not long

after the private company that sent it skyward reported a glitch, a problem with a propulsion

system that for a time kept the craft from turning its solar panels towards the sun
