Good morning and welcome to Kid News. I'm Tori. Today is Tuesday, January 7, 2025. And we begin with former President Jimmy Carter,

now on his way to Washington, D.C., one final time, waiting for him at the U.S. Naval Memorial this

morning, somber presidential pomp and circumstance. His casket will be transferred to a

casin or carriage and pulled by horses up Pennsylvania Avenue

past the White House and on to the U.S. Capitol where he will be placed in the rotunda flanked

by an honor guard. Members of Congress will pay their respects during a service at 3 this afternoon

Eastern time, and the public will be allowed to visit from 7 p.m. to midnight until Thursday morning.

That's when the National Funeral Service will take place at Washington National Cathedral.

All five living presidents will be present, including President Biden, Donald Trump,

Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.

Winterstorm Blair is now out over the Atlantic, but it left behind a frigid aftertaste.
