newport beach in southern california here and it's all over a $16 cab ride in which a credit card was declined.

Ashley Watts, this is back in 2016, took a taxi back to her apartment after drinking at a hotel.

So her credit card is declined and the taxi driver calls the police to help him collect his fare.

Well, not long after that, the police show up a little bit later on, and they go to her apartment

and say, what about the fare we want to come in?

And she says, no, not at all.

So what do they do?

They arrest her.

Well, they throw her on the ground and handcuff her.

And I don't think she goes to jail.

I think they just did, you know, just this weird, wild thing.

And so she gets convicted.

And, yeah, they did arrest her.

And she was convicted.
