Earlier this morning, we were talking about Kevin McGonaghanagall, and a phenomenal start to his rookie season.

He is fourth in the American League and batting right now.

He's 328.

He has 38 RBIs. I mean, the dude is playing stellar defense. He is doing it all. And so my point in bringing him up earlier was to

make reference to a point that John Marosi made in his interview with us the other day. I didn't, I wasn't able to follow up on it because

we were talking about something else. But at one point he said, listen, it was good business

for the Tigers to sign Kevin McGonagall when he did because they, they would potentially miss out on the opportunity to sign him for his free agent years.

So let's say you don't sign him this year and he bets 3.30 this year.

You started exploring it next year.

Obviously, the price tag is higher next year at that point

because he has a sample space. More reason for it to be a haggle and to be a back and forth.

If you prolonged it even further, you have two seasons where he's playing like this,

then you can't sign him if you're the Tigers. You can't, you, even though he's playing like this, then you can't sign him if you're the Tigers.

You can't, you, even though he's far removed from free agency, you can't sign him because

he won't sign.

Unless he's going to give you the hometown deal, you're not signing him once he gets to that window

because his agents in his ears saying Philly, New York, New York, Boston, L.A. Philly, New York, New York, Boston, L.A.

Philly, New York, New York, New York, Boston, L.A. Philly, New York, right? Those, maybe a few other, Texas, maybe a couple others that would be willing to spend. But those teams all spend an insane amount of money. And so, yeah, absolutely. You sign them up now. Maybe his agent is telling him this is a good deal now because you never know injuries

and sophomore slums and other things you never know.
