| 0:00.0 | And we are back, folks here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTCA online at the big 1050.com, |
| 0:06.5 | Sam Webb, Mr. Ira Wynchrov on the other side. |
| 0:10.1 | Tis the season, as Iro was talking about in the break, meetings and complaints. |
| 0:15.7 | And some complaints resonate and register more than others. |
| 0:21.1 | But put this latest complaint in that category, Mr. Wine Tribe. |
| 0:24.4 | Sam, this is a good one, okay? |
| 0:25.8 | This one's a really good one. |
| 0:27.1 | So Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Uriichick, who also happens to be the chairman of the 13 member CFP Committee, |
| 0:35.2 | he's put out a statement yesterday that he is extremely concerned and displeased |
| 0:40.4 | with the scheduling of their second and third games of the season. |
| 0:45.7 | He talks about it's a clear neglect for the well-being of college athletes. |
| 0:50.1 | The focus must be on the well-being of the game's participants, not the bottom line |
| 0:53.4 | of our media partner. |
| 0:55.3 | So what he's complaining about is that Arkansas's second game, they're playing at Utah on September 12th, |
| 1:00.2 | has been announced as a 9-15 central time for Arkansas, so 10-15 Eastern. |
| 1:05.8 | But what's that, 715 or 8-15 at Utah time, so pretty normal game time. |
| 1:10.4 | And then they play a noon-e Eastern time game against Georgia the following Saturday. |
| 1:14.1 | And he's complaining about basically losing an entire day of coming back. |
| 1:17.5 | Sam, I'm trying to figure out, because this is not simply a competitive disadvantage. |
| 1:21.8 | It is a genuine welfare issue for the young men who represent our program and contribute greatly to the bottom line of our television partners. |
| 1:28.1 | Great. |
| 1:29.2 | Because at the time of day they play. Because the time of they play. So, Sam, I want to just point out that, let me go back. Let me ask you a question. Who signs game contracts? No AD sign game contracts. I'm pretty sure that ADs are involved in this. They may have to be the ones that come up with it, but I'm sure they're involved in scheduling these games because this is their bottom line of their athletic department budget, is football scheduling. |
