Hey everybody, it's Joe Lample, the Joe behind behind Joe Gardner and thanks for listening to the

Joe Gardner show this is episode number seven now today we're talking about organic

we control and we are going to continue today a theme we started last week with Dr. Lee Reich and that was on

weedless gardening. And as you learned if you listen to that, you know, it's a weedless garden,

not a weed-free garden.

There really is no such thing.

But I wanted to continue with that theme today.

And shift gears a little bit and talk to Dr. Jeff Gilman,

another one of my favorite academic sources, who's really an expert in this area and many others.

But the thing I wanted to introduce you to about Jeff that I like so much, first of all,

he is a guy that tells it like it is. No nonsense. In fact, he's an author of several books. He spent his career getting to the truth

behind the rhetoric in matters involving both

gardening and the environment and he's got the credentials to back that up. He holds a

master's degree in entomology and a PhD in horticulture.

He's worked as a professor at the University of Minnesota, where he taught and conducted research

on a variety of horticultural topics.

And he's currently the director of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Garden in Charlotte, North Carolina.
