So this podcast is a continuation of a conversation we started last episode with Craig LaHullier.

Tomato Grower, Extraordnier, and author of my favorite book on the subject,

Epic Tomatoes. If you've jumped straight to this episode, you're definitely going to want to go back and

listen to episode number three, where we talk about Craig's rather

unique way of growing tomatoes in his driveway garden along with all the things that he

does to harvest literally a ton of tomatoes each year from roughly about 200 plants.

But it's a fascinating conversation and I promise it will be well worth your time.

But we got into our discussion and time was just flying by so I realized we really needed to break this conversation into a separate podcast.

So that's what we did and I'm thankful for that because in this episode we shift the focus to heirloom tomatoes past present and future

based on much of the work that Craig and his colleagues are doing around the world

with breeding new varieties and especially their dwarf tomato project and I think

that's where the heirloom tomatoes of tomorrow are really going to be known for is

what's happening today with those dwarf tomatoes but we'll talk about that in this episode as well.

But there's so much fascinating information right off the bat in this conversation

including a few very interesting stories about how some of our favorite heirloom varieties got their names.

And there's a ton of information outside of that.
