Michigan football matchup this Saturday night against Oklahoma down in Norman, Oklahoma.

Just the second time these teams have ever matched up against each other.

The first time was, of course, in the 1976 Orange Bowl, which was the first time a Michigan team ever played in a bowl game, not called the Rose Bowl. which will air it around midnight on Sunday morning here on the Big 1050 WTK. So we heard from Rom Bellamy. We heard from Lou Esposito. We'll start on the offensive side of the ball. Here is Michigan wide receiver coach, Ron Bellamy, who met with the media yesterday now here on the Michigan insider on the big 1050 WTKA.

Can you talk about what Channing did to earn that starting job and how you've seen him progress?

Yeah, super consistent in practice throughout training camp throughout spring ball.

We're a really good football player, super smart guy, cerebral player can move him around. You know, physical in the run game. You know, he's where he needs to be in the past game. He just makes plays. And, you know, that's why we decided collectively that, you know, Channing got to start on last Saturday. And then these guys weren't really pressed on Saturday. And I do expect other defenses to kind of get up on your guys. And how confident are you that they're going to be able to get off the line and stuff? Yeah, no, that's what, you know, the more skill your defensive backs are. Coaches have confidence in them. You know, the more pressure you'll see something that we work on all the time, you know, expecting it. you know, we see it, you know, get an opportunity to work against our dbs every day we got some you know big

corners you know that give us good looks and you know we give them good work as

well so you know something that we were always prepared for is that Sam

the energy in the receiver room this year compared to last year feel different and

how does that show itself?

Yeah, we're deeper. We're deeper. We're older. The guys are more confident. I mean, obviously, you saw, you know, last game, it's past game, you know, having the ability to throw the ball down the field a little bit more. So, you know, we've been, you know, we've been blessed and fortunate with that.

But the guys are super locked in, super engaged. You know, obviously you see the ball could go to anyone. Anyone could get hot and, you know, receivers love that. I'm standing on the left, Zach. How have you seen T.J. Metcalf kind of grow, like, as you're playing against him and then also just like what does he provide for you guys prepare for opponents like with all of them?

Yeah. seeing TJ Metcalf kind of grow like as you're playing against him and then also just like what does he provide for you guys to prepare for opponents like Oklahoma? Yeah, he's been a huge spark on defense for us. You know, he's a guy that he's physical, he's smart, plays the past, super competitive. You know, the thing I love about TJ, man, he has energy that's just infectious. He's, you know, always just flying

around. He loves football. He's a ball player. And he's been a great addition to our team. And, you know, I'm excited. I told him Friday night after our team meetings, I said, T.J., I said, man, I'm excited to see you play ball because, you know, the way he played, the way he went through training camp he was all all over the field, and, you know, he showed that last Saturday. I'm super impressed with T.J. Are you right, Charles? Yeah, there were a few drops the other night. How do you get something that corrected and make sure it doesn't stumble onto a beer of concern? Yeah, I think the big thing is, you know, you continue to stay on the jugs, emphasize, you know, drops are teachable moments.

You know, why did you drop the ball? You know, ball is what as low as high, whatever, you know, ball touch your hand. I'll root. Ball touch your hand, you make the catch, you know, and, you know, just detailing that out, you know, putting it on film and, you know, the guys understand it.
