The Michigan men's basketball team is now 19 and 1 on the season following their 75-72 win last night over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The third-ranked Wolverines over fifth-rate Nebraska. It was a dogfight. Michigan found a way to get the victory. And the guy with the game-winning bucket at the end was Trey McKinney. He met with the media yesterday along with a couple other players. We heard from Mores Johnson Jr.

We also, of course, heard from head coach Dusty May. So we're going to start with the players. Here is Trey McKinney, who scored that game winner last night. Here is Trey McKinney. I mean, the baseline drive?

I mean, the baseline was kind of open because they were, you know, forcing us to the baseline.

They wouldn't give us metal drives.

So I just had to take advantage of that and, you know, finally get one in for a layup.

What would it feel like when you see the shot go down?

I mean, really good with, you know, just the energy of the game and, you know, how it was going.

I mean, it was crazy.

You came in pretty confident from high school, but to do that against an undefeated team, top five game.

I mean, just can you speak to your confidence at this point?

I mean, that's really what you come here for, you know, to play in those platform games

and, you know, play against these really good teams in the Big Ten.

You know, this is probably, if not the best, one of the best conferences in America.

So, I mean, coming here, you know, this is what I wanted to do.

After the last game, Dusty May said that you look more comfortable to him than you had all season. Does it feel more, do you feel more comfortable? And if so, what? Is it just getting to that point in your freshman season? Definitely. I mean, I really feel comfortable out there, you know. Whether it's just offensively or defensively, I think I can really impact the game in a lot of ways.

Did it get frustrating when they kept hitting those threes in the first year? You guys couldn't get over the hump at all? I mean, not really. I mean, when you're playing good defense and they're hitting those, you know, tough threes, you know, they're going to miss them at some point and we just really had to connect together as a team

or whatever five was on the floor. Just connect and, you know, play defense and, you know, shut down. Well, the whole new 22 points of the second half, what went into that schematically? We just talked about in the locker room perhaps. I'm really just trying to be more physical because they were setting various physical screens and I think we have to really try to match their physicality in the second half.
