So news came down yesterday that the NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand the men's and women's NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams.

The expansion is on track to be formalized in the next many weeks with mid-May as the target.

And the 76 team tournaments will begin this coming season. So next year, stop me if you've heard this one before. Michigan wins a national championship. Then they expand the field the very next year. Sounds super familiar, doesn't it? We didn't need a 12-team playoff. We didn't need that expansion then. We definitely don't need 16 or 24. We don't need eight more teams in March Madness yet. Here we are. We don't. Essentially, what they're doing now is they are handing out some extra participation bonuses to coaches of teams who should remain on the wrong side of the bubble. Instead of having bubble conversations and saying, ooh, that team should not get in, but they're closed, let's have this conversation.

Those teams are all getting in now.

They're all getting in, okay?

They're all of them.

Think about last year.

Oklahoma, Auburn,

Auburn, I think, was the one that was the one that jumped out to be the most.

Oklahoma, Auburn, San Diego State, Indiana, all those teams would have gotten in last year.

And then some, because that's just the first four of it.

Oklahoma was 19 and 15.

They were 7.11 in the SEC.

Auburn was 17 and 16. They were 7.11 in the SEC. Auburn was 17 and 16.

They were 7 and 11 in the SEC.

St. Nica State was 22 and 11.

They were a little better.

Indiana was 18 and 14.

They were 9 and 11 in the Big 10.

New Mexico,

Seton Hall, Virginia Tech at 8 and 10 in the ACC.
