| 0:37.7 | There's nothing more intense. |
| 0:39.5 | Maybe in all of sports than being in a postseason. |
| 0:42.0 | So in the NHL, it would be a game seven. |
| 0:45.3 | In college hockey, it's every postseason game because it's win or go home. |
| 0:50.1 | We talk about this all the time in the do or die NCAA basketball tournament and how intense those games can be. But hockey, there's just something about the intensity of a hockey game where you're generally close to or on the edge of your seat as it is on a hockey game anyway. Hockey games are high anxiety. One bounce here can be the difference in a one-nothing game, right? All it takes is one goal to be different, and obviously that's what happened in the game last night. Going to the game, there are some basic things in hockey. It's very similar to like basketball. You've got to play a clean game. You have to limit your turnovers, especially in your own zone. You cannot turn the puck over. It's very similar. basketball you can't give free turnovers that lead to we talk about points off turnovers or all the time. And the more points you can turn into – or more turnovers, you can turn into points, the easier it is for you to win games. For that matter, we talk about it in football too. But we talk about it in basketball all the time. Lieball turnovers versus deadball turnovers. It's kind of like in hockey. you're going to have turnovers, but we talk about in basketball all the time. Lieball turnovers versus deadball turnovers. |
| 1:45.3 | It's kind of like in hockey. |
| 1:46.4 | You're going to have turnovers, but are you going to have them in your offensive zone |
| 1:50.2 | where you can get back on defense and stop any rush that might happen? |
| 1:55.1 | Or do you do or do you have those turnovers in the offensive zone in your own |
| 1:58.3 | defensive zone in your team and your opponent's offensive zone where it leads to fairly easy opportunities you've got to limit those |
| 2:05.8 | turnovers and you've got to limit careless penalties you can't let this game get into a game |
| 2:10.8 | where you obviously want to get some opportunities in the power play which they didn't really |
| 2:14.3 | have very many of those that's a conversation if you really want to have that conversation, we can. Because it was absurd how one side of the whistle was for about 90% of the game. But that's true. And that probably did have an impact, but that's not necessarily why they lost the game. That's just a frustrating aspect of the game. But the defensive zone turnovers. Big part of it. Penalties. They kill a penalty and immediately after killing the penalty, they have a defensive zone turnover. That's how you give up the first lead in the game. That's how you fell behind 1-0 with Denver 9 and a half minutes in the game. They get a five-hole goal that was actually tipped maybe by Michigan and just a subtle deflection. It was a really tough spot that Ivan Kovic should not have been put in. |
| 2:54.2 | But his teammates put him in that position. |
| 2:56.0 | And then he's unable to slide to his left and make the full, make the save as the puck goes under him. |
| 3:02.9 | You have a, you know, you're able to get it back. |
| 3:06.0 | The face-off win that led to, when the puck got tied up and then big Josh just is able to get the puck and I don't know how that puck, how we got that shut off and how it went in, but it was a sick goal at the 1618 mark of the first period. Less than a minute later. Like literally one second less than a minute later, 59 seconds later, T.J. Hughes gives Michigan a 2-1 lead. |
| 3:27.8 | Valentini with the shot. |
| 3:29.0 | He was grinding it out. |
