Game day covers stretch at 3.30 with the chap on site fueling count on a kickoff here on the big 1050 WTK. But right now, as I said, it's time to learn more about those Oklahoma Sooners. We go behind enemy lines with Alejandro Ziniga from the Michigan Insider.com, now here on The Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTK. We're going to go ahead and get started by welcoming in our guest for this week's episode of Behind Enemy Lines. Tom Green of Sooners Illustrated. thank you so much for joining us. Let's go ahead and dive in about what this game means for the Oklahoma program, because it seems like Oklahoma and Michigan are both coming into this season

in at least recent history, very similar. Last year, disappointing years, disastrous offense, if you want to put it in that term,

with some solid defenses, but both programs upgraded offensively over the offseason.

But this is maybe a bit of a testy, tenuous time for Brett Venables.

This could be a turning point game. So I'm going to leave that open-ended for you. What does this game mean for Oklahoma with Michigan coming to town this weekend? Yeah. I mean, if you if you just, you know, strip away the, you know, the helmets and, you know, just the pageantry of this game of Michigan, Oklahoma, playing in the regular season for the first time ever,

the importance of this game for Oklahoma is still huge. Like you said, last year was tumultuous, to say the least.

It was Oklahoma's second, you know, losing season in three years under Brent Venables with a 10-win campaign sandwich in there.

And while the defense has improved in each year under Brent Venables, the offense last year just took a tailspin. You know, part of it was a bad hire a coordinator

that Brent Venables quickly, you know, made the call to fire Seth Latrell seven games into

the season. Part of it was a string of injuries at wide receiver and at offensive line and

then just inconsistent play at quarterback. But it was Oklahoma string of injuries at wide receiver and at offensive line and then just

But it was Oklahoma's worst offensive season in, you know, 26 years since 1998.

So this game is big because it's a early season test to see what this Oklahoma team might

be capable of this year.

I think there's been cautious optimism around the program about Oklahoma being able to bounce back this year.

But they do have one of the toughest schedules in the country.

A lot of that coming in the SEC, but obviously, you know, this Michigan game being a huge test for them.

So I think it's going to be a big litmus test for them and really a potential tone setter for what could come this season
