| 0:00.0 | Welcome back to the Michigan insider, the Big 1050 WTKA online at the big 1050.com. |
| 0:05.9 | Big 10 football media days. |
| 0:07.3 | Day three is today. |
| 0:08.8 | Yesterday was day two with the head coaches and players from Minnesota, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington, Penn State. |
| 0:16.8 | So at the podium, we heard from PJ Fleck, David Braun, Luke Fickle, Dan Lannning, Jed Fish, James Franklin. I'll be honest, if I have a conversation with a fair amount of Big Ten fans, they may not know who David Braun is by name. In his second year, the head coach at Northwestern now. But we said yesterday was not necessarily going to have to be a very intriguing, interesting day because of who was going to be there. That may have been the case, but I think each coach said at least one thing that's worth getting into. But before we do that, I want to go back to Tuesday, something that we didn't get a chance to discuss from Tuesday. There was a question for Dylan Rayola. He was asked which Big Ten stadium has been the toughest to play in so far. |
| 0:54.8 | And I understand why he says Ohio State, not even close. |
| 0:58.3 | Now, first of all, if he came to, if he played for Michigan, I don't know if he'd |
| 1:01.8 | view Columbus that difficult as that difficult of a place to play, right? |
| 1:05.4 | It's not as tough if you're Michigan. |
| 1:06.9 | You've won there your last two times down there. |
| 1:09.6 | I think my biggest takeaway from this is of all the people to ask this question at media days and maybe other players were asked. I just happen to see this question in response. You're asking a kid who just wrapped up his freshman year. He's only played in a handful of places. He's only been to West Lafayette and Bloomington, Indiana. Those are in tough places to play. |
| 2:10.4 | Now, he's been to Columbus. He's been to L.A. to play USC at the Coliseum, and he's been to Iowa. Now, based on my experiences, I've not been to Columbus, but I know how difficult of a place Columbus and how loud and all that. But based on my experience, either watching on TV or having been in some of these stadiums. I think just on the places that he's played, it's easy to put Purdue and Indiana, obviously, at the bottom. USC is probably right above them. And then you have to have a conversation about Columbus and Kinnick. The thing is that they played Kinnick late in the year. And I'm sure both fan bases were a little, at that point, a little, you know, kind of annoyed with their teams and maybe not quite as full-throated as they might have been a little earlier in the season, say when Nebraska was at Ohio State. |
| 2:14.6 | And that game, if you remember, Nebraska could have won that game on the road in Columbus. |
| 2:16.7 | So, of course, the crowd is going to be that much more into it. |
| 2:36.3 | My biggest takeaway really is, well, jokingly, is that if he had played for Michigan, he would not say Columbus, not even, or Ohio State not even close, whereas that it's the toughest stadium to play in the Big Ten. The bigger takeaway is that you probably shouldn't ask a guy who just played his freshman year. That's an upper classman, an upper classman question or so it seems. |
| 2:41.1 | Because based on experience and based on history in the Big Ten, Kinnick is right up there with discussing the most difficult venues in the Big Ten to play. |
| 2:44.0 | I wonder when you ask him again, if he gets asked that question again, because they |
| 2:48.5 | should ask him that exact same question again, what it will be like after they go to Maryland? All right, it doesn't matter. Minnesota, that one doesn't matter. UCLA, that doesn't matter. But they do go to Penn State this year. So Rayola hasn't played at Penn State yet. He's been to Kenick. He's been to Ohio Stadium. He'll go to Penn State this year. So he'll have a third stadium in that conversation |
| 3:08.6 | to be able to maybe give a little bit of comparison because that is that's one of those opportunities. |
| 3:15.1 | But I also, I was looking at Nebraska's schedule just because I had, you know, I'd seen these |
| 3:19.6 | comments. I had seen the video clip. And so I went, so I went, I looked at the Brasca's schedule to see where they were going this year. And what I noticed more than anything else is you heard me mentioned they're playing at UCLA. So for the first time since joining the Big Ten, the Huskers finally get to go to the Rose Bowl. They thought they were joining the Big Ten and they were going to be perennial contenders. And they were going to be at the Rose Bowl a lot from the time they joined. They haven't been there since they joined the Big Ten conference. But now this year they will finally get to the Rose Bowl. So congratulations to Nebraska. You will make it to the Rose Bowl this year. And so that is, I'm sure that's very cool for them. So that was actually from Tuesday. I hadn't had a chance to get to that one on Tuesday. |
| 4:14.3 | And then, sorry, distracted there. Showing replay from yesterday's Big Ten Football Media Days. There's a video of Luke Fickle walking through. And I'm pretty sure he was walking with DG. With that, DG with him? I had to check in with DG. |
