Welcome to the first episode of the American Birding Podcast from the ABA.

0:14.9

I'm Nate Swick from the ABA blog, and I'm really excited to introduce this new project

0:19.0

from the American Birding Association,

0:25.1

podcast, deliver to you regularly about birds and birding in the ABA area and beyond.

0:29.1

At the ABA, we're fortunate to have so many friends and colleagues in the birding world,

0:33.9

and just like you, we love talking about birds, so it's our intention to invite them here to talk about birding and let you listen in. You'll certainly hear from ABA staff as well

0:38.0

1:20.5

proxy ballots. Four out of five of them supported this action of adding the 50th state to the

1:26.2

ABA area. We appreciate that support. We also acknowledge

1:29.5

that there are those who might be skeptical about the change. We hope that we can allay those

1:33.3

concerns in the months ahead as we move forward. This podcast is going to play a role there. We'll

1:37.7

have ABA staff, birders from Hawaii, and others on to talk about what's going on. We want to

1:41.6

make this whole thing as transparent as possible, and we want to make sure that we're making an effort to recognize those concerns about the
