So there's this one episode of Seinfeld, one of the last ones in the last season actually,

you know, one of the seasons where Larry David wasn't there and everything was a little bit wack

here. Anyway, one of the plots of this episode starts with Elaine, her boyfriend at the time

Putty lets her borrow his car. And while driving it alone, she finds out that all his radio presets

are Christian rock stations, which of course mortifies her. She shows up to the diner and tells the

gang what she's found out to which George says, and what I love about this episode is that

there's something funny about all these reactions from these characters. The idea that Putty

is truly committed to his faith and his Christian music is great. Elaine's utter horror at Putty's

faith is great. And George coming at it from a different angle and finding and embracing the

value of the music and the unusual nobility attached to the uncool is great. And in this scene,

the writers of the show managed to voice three funny valid perspectives on the same subject,

because writers, as much as anyone else, know that nothing in this world is ever just one thing.

So what if that was a show? Like, literally that idea, that subject. What if there was a space

that immerses you the listener into a world almost like yours, but radically different? A pop culture

bizarre world to borrow another Seinfeld device, a faith-based version of the upside down to borrow

more recent one? What would that sound like? Well, if it's going to work, it's got to be accessible.

You can't just preach to the choir. You got to make a space that's welcome to anyone. Atheist,

agnostic, Muslim, Jew, and yeah, Christian. You're talking about people's worldviews and what

they believe in, so you got to have some respect, but you don't need blind reverence. If it's going

to be funny, I mean, hopefully it'll be funny. We'll see. There needs to be some room for snark

and sarcasm and lightness without malice. And if it's interesting, and it's not just the same joke

over and over again, you got to have equal parts curiosity and skepticism involve the
