Ukraine has agreed the terms of a temporary ceasefire in the country's war with Russia.

Brokered by the U.S. at a meeting in Saudi Arabia, the deal would see the two sides lay down

their arms for 30 days. Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Wickoff,

flew to Moscow, where he met with Putin.

Afterwards, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov told reporters there was reason to feel,

quote, cautious optimism about a negotiated and permanent ends of the war.

And Donald Trump has called the meeting good and productive, but that optimism seems to be at odds with previous signals from the Russian president.

The late-night meeting followed a press conference given by Putin in Moscow on Thursday,
