Summary

On July 11, 1976, Wade and Ellen Zick were murdered in their Zeeland, North Dakota home, leaving a community devastated. 0:46.8	At 11.30 p.m., having informed the public that the Zicks had been killed, Sheriff Weist returned to the gravel pit outside of town. He was accompanied by two BCI agents named Henke and
0:52.8	Olson. The FBI were in Zeeland now as well, and an agent named Ken Aldridge joined them.
0:59.6	Waiting for them at the scene were Sheriff's Deputy Rood, Spike Levi, Whitey Klein,
1:04.7	as well as two BCI agents named Leibick and Hickman.
1:08.8	While FBI Agent Aldridge took statements from Spike and Whitey,
1:13.3	the others assessed the situation. It was dark. They made a unanimous decision. The only
1:19.3	course of action was to sit tight until the sun returned. Processing the scene now would be too
1:25.0	risky. Evidence could be overlooked or inadvertently damaged or destroyed.
1:30.8	Deputy Rewitt and agents Libick and Hickman were assigned to guard the area until morning.
1:35.9	Wies and the other men returned to the command post.
1:39.5	Spike Levi and Whitey Klein finally got to go home.
1:45.1	With the Zicks now confirmed to be deceased, law enforcement shifted their focus fully
1:49.3	to apprehending whoever may have killed the six, and of course they had a very good idea
