Summary

Zach Triner is the long snapper with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played his college football at Assumption College (Division II) in Massachusetts as a defensive end and long snapper and went undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft. After signing futures contracts and spending time on the Jets and Packers practice squads, Triner joined the Buccaneers in 2019 and is now entering his 6th season in 2024.

Triner also is a Super Bowl champion, helping the Buccaneers to a title in the 2020 season.

Today on the podcast, Zach Triner shares his improbable journey of making it to the NFL and  the power of commitment, faith, and reprioritizing life. He recounts a divine encounter that led him to find direction and faith in California and eventually getting his big break with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

champion. He is now entering year six in the NFL, and he was 28 years old when he was a rookie in

2019 with the Buccaneers. So you know there's a backstory to this, right?

Not only was he waiting for many years and trying to stay ready and even realize or think

through if this NFL journey was going to happen, but he also went to Division 2 assumption

in college as a defensive end and a long snapper.

A lot of D2 guys do not make it to the NFL.

It is very hard to make it to the NFL no matter what stage of college that you played,

but much less Division 2.

There's only 32 long snappers in the NFL.

They don't keep backups upon backups like, you know, other positions.

So he's got one shot out of 32 here, basically, to get into the league. And he goes through a lot

in his journey. And it's really cool to watch how God got a hold of his life in his late 20s. He

prioritizes Jesus and suddenly things start to fall into place. Now that does not mean that when we

prioritize Jesus that we get the desires of our heart every single time. Everything works out

perfectly the way we want to, but it works out perfectly the way God wants to. And God has

orchestrated this journey for Zach Trinner to make it to the NFL, to win a Super Bowl,

to play with two heroes of his when he was watching the Patriots growing up in Rob Gruncowski

and Tom Brady, and now to sign a new contract here in 2024 and prepare for his sixth
