Picture the drive up to Waverly Hills. A narrow, twisting road

cuts through thick woodland, each turn shrouded in shadow as the sun dips below the horizon. In the

distance, the building rises like a sentinel, enormous, brick-red and intimidating.

Its gothic spires and tall windows stare down over the surrounding hills, silent witnesses

to decades of suffering. Even from the outside, the air feels different. There's a weight to it,

heavy, cold and oddly still.

Birds seem to avoid the hilltop and even on warm evenings the breeze carries a sharp chill.
