Okay, today what we're going to be talking about is how you do one thing is how you do everything and why it's important to always do just a little bit extra than you're expected to do or then you actually want to do.

0:56.0

And this actually occurred to me a couple days ago I was at the gym and I was on the treadmill and I realized this is something that I practice and started to practice and I knew that this would be really good to share with you guys.

1:08.0

And I was on the treadmill, I was doing a warm-up before I started my actual workout and I was going to go for 10 minutes on the treadmill and instead of going for 10 minutes I went for 10 minutes and 30 seconds.

1:21.0

Now that's just a little bit extra but what I used to do and I noticed that I was doing this is I would get to 9 minutes and 50 seconds and I would stop because I'd be like well I'm basically there I'm basically at my goal of 10 minutes.

1:34.0

But see what happened was I realized that how I do one thing is how I do everything so if I was being short on my warm-up in my workout even if it's just by 10 seconds then I was also shortening somewhere else in life and I don't want to shorten anywhere in life.

1:50.0

You always want to make sure that you're doing just a little bit extra especially on the little things not just the important things and you might say oh you know it's just 10 seconds it's not really that big of a deal.

2:02.0

But I know that if I'm making sure that I'm going above and beyond on the little tiny things in life then when those very important things come up in life I will go above and beyond on those big things.

2:13.0

Because if you're shortening yourself at the gym you're going to be shortening yourself somewhere else as well like for instance one thing that I've I've been working on and trying to get better at because I'm not very good at it is whenever I get down with a dish trying to clean it and put it in the dishwasher as soon as I'm done.

2:29.0

Or another example with something that happened today was it was really cold this morning and then it got hot so I was wearing a long sleeve shirt and when I took off my long sleeve shirt I was about to hang it up and it was inside out because it was you know it's harder to take off a long sleeve shirt.

2:43.0

But instead of doing that I told myself well I'm going to need to do this anyways why don't I just turn it inside out now and it's such a small thing but if I'm doing those little tiny things then obviously I'm going to be doing a little bit extra on the big things as well.

2:56.0

Something like I'm going to be sending out handwritten thank you letters today to a few people that need it that I did actually you know they deserve to get a thank you letter for me and not just to thank you email but an actual handwritten letter it's above and beyond because most people don't do those types of things anymore.

3:14.0

And another thing is remembering people's names a lot of people say oh I'm just I'm so bad remembering people's names and that's honestly it's a cop out you're not bad remembering people's names you're just not listening enough or don't care enough to remember people's names.

3:29.0

So when you meet somebody even if it's two or three people at a time say their name over and over a few times five to ten times in your head to try to remember it because people are impressed when you go above and beyond and try to remember every person's name.

3:42.0

When you read an article that you like you know send it over to a friend email to him and tell him why you thought of them and how you think it could benefit them.

3:51.0

When you're mowing the lawn this is something that I do I have a shared space where you know just part of my lawn goes over into my neighbor's area and instead of stopping on my half I just go over and just read.

4:04.0

I go over and actually mow his as well and it's just a little bit extra to make sure that I'm doing these little things so when the big things come up I'm doing the big things and going above and beyond in the big things.

4:17.0

If you network figure out if you know someone that you could help that person that you just met do you know someone in your network you can connect them with and possibly they could connect that would help them out.
