Hey, it's Callie Black here with today's thought. Let's open up to Doctrine and Covenants

section 138 verse 17. If you believe what you see and hear in the media, having a body that is anything less than perfect seems like a punishment.

There is so much pressure to fit into that pair of jeans or have the cutest makeup or get the best tan.

But from an eternal perspective, bodies have a whole different purpose.

We agreed to come to Earth to deal with the terrible trials and heartaches that we knew we would

face, all to get a body. And those spirits who chose Lucifer's plan instead, their punishment

was to never receive a body.

Our skin, heart, bones, muscles, and blood are among the biggest blessings and gifts God

has given us.

And when we have to leave this life and we're separated from our bodies again.

I think we'll miss them.

Until, as we read in Doctrine Covenant section 138 verse 17,

their sleeping dust was to be restored unto its perfect frame.

Bone to his bone and the sinews in the flesh upon them,

the spirit and the body to be united,

never again to be divided, that they might receive a fullness of joy. Being reunited with our

amazing bodies will allow us to receive a fullness of joy. We know our bodies will be perfected when we

are united with them again, but how our bodies look or what size we wear is so far from the point

in the eternal scheme of things. What our bodies do and allow us to experience are what allow us to feel true

joy in the eternities. So the takeaway of the day in five words or less, your body brings joy.
