Hey friend, it's Kristen. When I hit my mid-30s, I decided to change the way I talked about my body.

I realized I had gotten into a bad habit of thinking and saying negative things about my appearance and my physical

abilities. And I wanted to change that. And so each night as I prepared for bed, I started

saying body gratitude prayers. So in these prayers, I thank God for everything my body had allowed

me to do that day. So I would express gratitude for my arms that hugged someone or my

legs that took me where I needed to go or my ears that heard my kids laughter and even my rear end

that made sitting so very comfortable. And it was amazing how much these prayers changed my thoughts

and feelings about my body. I began to truly appreciate it

for the amazing gift it is. The family proclamation says, in the premortal realm, spirit,

sons and daughters knew and worship God as their eternal father and accepted his plan by which

his children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection

and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life. Now, did you catch that? The

purpose of our bodies is so we can have an earthly experience that will help us progress toward

perfection. We might sometimes be tempted to complain about what our bodies

can't do or how they look, but our bodies are doing precisely what God created them for,

giving us this amazing mortal experience in which we are coming closer to Christ. So the takeaway of

the day and five words or less is, your body has a purpose.
