A local constable is warning about a scam in Harris County, where our neighbors are getting calls that appear to be from Harris County constables,

telling them that they have a warrant out for missing jury duty.

More than 60 people have been scammed out of thousands of dollars.

And some women were even ordered to disrobe and send nude pictures of themselves.

Scammers are everywhere and targeting everyone as of late, posing as police to get cash from local physicians.

We've had 60 victims that have fallen prey to this to the tune of $5,000 for each victim.

They tell the victim they have a warrant for their arrest for skipping out on jury duty.

The phone call appears to come from the local office and the scammer may sound like this.

Police tell Fox 26 they even threatened to have the doctor's medical license revoked.

They're instructed to place the cash on a money pack card like these that are hard to trace.

And worse, they get the victims mostly women to disrobe and take photos of themselves.

Many of them too embarrassed to speak about it on camera.

I don't know what convinces people to fall for this because as soon as they ask you to get gift cards or these kind of money pack cards,

should be a very, very glowing thing.

And that's because the government entity, like a constables office, would never ask you to load a prepaid card over the phone.

The better business bureau says to stay calm and act carefully if and when you get this call.

The scammer is going to prey on prey on you and want you to act with urgency and not really think it through.

Don't provide anything to them.

And then you can go back and look up the constables office as some information or contact information yourself and find that and contact them.
