Have you ever read a passage in the Bible and you find yourself thinking, this sounds like the exact opposite of what I believe.

You know you've hit one of those passages when you're in a Bible study and people start arguing

about it, or they start saying that the author of the passage means exactly the opposite of

whatever he's saying.

One of those passages is 1st John 3.

Let's read a bit of it together,

and we'll see if we can get our heads around it.

Verse 4, everyone who sins breaks the law. In fact, sin is lawlessness, but you know that he, he's talking

about Jesus, appeared so that he might take away our sins, and in him is no sin. Okay so far so good we believe everything that's been said but then

John says something wild. verse six no one who lives in him keeps on sinning no one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from

The reason the son of God appeared was to destroy the Devil's work.

No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them.

They cannot go on sinning because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the
