0:14.0	Daniel Chapters to get to work. I'm Keith Simon. Daniel chapters 10, 11, and 12 fit tightly together.
0:18.0	Today, we're just focusing on Daniel 10.
0:21.2	It serves as an introduction to a vision that comes tomorrow in Chapter 11.
0:27.0	Before we dive into Chapter 10, I just want to go back for a second and see if you noticed a change that took place between
0:34.8	the first and second half of Daniel. In the first half of the book of Daniel, the
0:39.5	Kings were having dreams and they were asking Daniel to interpret their dreams for them.
0:44.3	In the second half of Daniel he is the one having the dreams that require interpretation.
0:50.4	All right here we are verse one. In the third year of Cyrus King of Persia a
0:54.9	revelation was given to Daniel its message was true and it concerned a great war
1:00.3	the understanding of the message came to him in a vision. So the setting for this
1:05.3	vision that Daniel is going to have is that it's the third year of Cyrus King of Persia.
1:10.3	So this vision is happening after Cyrus has allowed the Israelites to return to Jerusalem
1:16.8	and restore and rebuild the temple.
1:19.2	Verse 2. At that time, I Daniel mourned for three weeks.
1:23.6	I ate no choice food, no meat, no wine touched my lips,
1:27.7	and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over.
1:31.2	So Daniel is fasting, He's trying to spiritually prepare
1:35.4	himself to receive this vision that God had for him. He knew that he needed to
1:40.0	be focused on God and not distracted in any way.
1:44.0	Beginning in verse 4, he has the vision, or at least starts to.
