| 0:00.0 | Most people are drafting the tight end position completely wrong this year in fantasy. |
| 0:04.0 | Simply put, they're chasing names that used to be good. Don't make that same mistake. Instead, you want to be drafting the five tight ends that we're going to discuss in this video. And if you're not familiar, I'm Salvatri. I've been helping people win their fantasy leagues for nearly eight years, and we plan to do the same for you in this video. Let's start by discussing the Cleveland Brown's tight end, David Njoku, who currently, if we look at the ADP, his average draft position, he currently goes as the 88th overall player, the tight end nine off the board, which is pretty crazy. I mean, you can get him in round eight of fantasy drafts. Sometimes he falls into round nine of fantasy drafts, even though he has top three tight end upside. I mean, we literally just saw it last year. Because last season, Injoku was the tight-end four in fantasy. He's actually gotten better every single year of his career in terms of points per game. And when you specifically look at when he got healthy and you look from week six to week 14, there was also the James Winston resurgence here. In those eight games, David and Joku's averaging over 15 fantasy points per game compared to |
| 0:54.5 | his first three with just eight. |
| 0:56.0 | He has nearly 10 targets per game, which led all tight ends during this stretch compared to |
| 1:00.3 | just six before that. |
| 1:01.3 | So he became a much better option. |
| 1:03.3 | He was actually a top five tight end averaging over 15 points per game during that span. |
| 1:07.1 | And when you zoom out to the full season, despite playing in a terrible offense, the quarterback situation outside of when James took over for like a month and was like one of the most fun things on the year for any team. Outside of that, it was a bad situation. Despite all of that, he still finished, like we said, is a top five tight end, number four overall. And his expected fantasy points based on what he was expected to see, 17.8 points per game, number two, so he should have been even better last year. This is how good David Unjoku was. He's a size speed freak. Overall last year, he only played in nine games of which he left some of those early. Despite leaving those games early, he still average 8.8 targets per game, which was actually more than guys like, oh, I don't know, George Kittle last year, who goes as a fourth round pick? And we like Kittle in the fourth round, but that's just to show you, you're getting really good value right now on Injoku, especially when you compare him to a certain veteran tight end who goes before him. We'll talk about that guy in a second. Because for right now, I just want to focus on the last time we saw Injoku healthy for a full season, which was just a year before that. This guy's a gym rat. He takes care of his body. |
| 2:01.4 | I mean, if we're talking about like all body teams in the NFL, pause, he's probably on it. 81 catches, 123 targets back in 2023. Oh, yeah, and during that season, he actually played with Joe Flacco, which is important because Joe Flackle likely going to be the start of this year. in five games with Joe Flacco, you can see right here, 18.6 fantasy points per game, |
| 2:01.5 | nine targets per game, and 78 yards per game. These are insane numbers for a tight end. That 18.6 fantasy points per game with Flacco was number two. It would ranked number two in 2023. And I said that's important because Joe Flacco is once again on this team. And he's on a team right now that if we look at the early reports, he's currently the favorite. You can see this tweet by Adam Levittan. Be sure to follow him. He says right here, he points out an athletic tweet that says Joe Flacco, two best throwing days so far. Over the last week, Flacco has gone from presumed favorite to strong favorite right now, which is important for everybody in this offense. If you're spending a middle round pick on David and Joku, on Jerry Judy, a late round pick on Cedric Tillman, they all look much better right now with Joe Flacco than any of these rookies or even a Kenny Pickett. In terms of the team changes this offseason, this is the team changes tracker in my fantasy blueprint. You can check it out at join the blueprint.com limited spots remaining. Elijah Moore is gone, who was a middle of the field short area target last year, who could have taken targets away from one David and Joku, and they really didn't replace him what much. Deonté Johnson was the biggest addition, as you can see right here in terms of potential for this team at the wide receiver, even tight end position. I'm not too concerned with that. Now, Deontay Johnson, if he can get his head on straight, he is an older receiver, |
| 3:24.4 | but maybe he has some juice and can threaten Jerry Judy's target chair, but David and Joku wins in a very specific way. In the slot, on the line, middle of the field, short areas. That's where he can dominate. And he has the size and athletic ability to actually produce after the catch, which is normally where we see his explosive gains. So yes, when you look at his competition this year, |
| 3:21.9 | I actually think the Browns have an interesting wide receiver room. |
| 3:24.6 | We saw Jerry Judy flash last year. Same thing for Cedric Tillman and outside X. We'll see what they get at Deontay Johnson. But in terms of this competition, I mean, yes, Deontay is new there, but even battling Jerry Judy and Cedric Tillman last year during that stretch of eight games when David and Joku was healthy. And Joku actually led the team ahead of Judy in Target chair. |
| 4:00.3 | It was marginal, but he was the number one option on this team. Now, I said I want to compare where he's going this year, David and Joku, in drafts, to a certain veteran. And that veteran's name, you know, the guy, Travis Kelsey. And look, we love the guy. He's about to turn 36 years old right now. |
| 3:55.2 | I get it. |
| 3:55.6 | He's been a dominant force, |
| 3:57.1 | former first round pick at times in fantasy drives. |
| 3:59.5 | Kelsey is currently going as the guy. He's about to turn 36 years old right now. I get it. He's been a dominant force, former first round pick at times in fantasy drafts. Kelsey is currently going as the 66th overall player, these tight end six in fantasy. He goes 22 picks before. So two to three rounds before David Injoku, despite Injoku trending up every year, still being someone in the prime of his career. And Travis Kelsey, we just saw last year trending down and and not in the prime of his career and that's pretty clear when you see his yards per out run Travis Kelsey ranked outside the top 20 tight ends in efficiency last year. He only had three touchdowns his lowest ever. He had career lows not only in yards per outrun but he also had career lows if you look at his yards after the catch, just 2.6 yards after the catch per target. |
| 4:48.4 | His yards per reception. He was not getting downfield, not breaking off explosive plays. It makes sense. He's nearly 36 years old. This is when tight ends usually retire. Heck, they're usually retired three to four years before this. So obviously he's had a great career, but yes, he has the strong name. We know how good he's been. It's not the same situation, though. |
| 4:44.5 | Outside of the age and efficiency drops, |
| 4:46.5 | you're getting guys like Xavier Worthy entering year two who look great last year. Rossi Rice, whenever he gets back from his presumed suspension, this is another guy who has looked great when he's on the field. Marquise Brown and Camp has been dealing with this ankle injury, but when he gets on the field is a guy who can stretch the field something Travis Kelsey has not been showing that he can do lately. So like, yes, Kelsey, we hope that he'll be more involved in the Red Zone this year. But in terms of having like those 10 to 12 target games where he's actually picking up 8, 10, 11 yards per reception, I just don't see it consistently happening to spend a sixth or a seventh round pick on it. Which is why right now people are making the mistake of seeing the name Travis Kelsey that they recognize and like, oh, I had to spend a first or second round pick on him two or three years ago. That's a great value. Wrong. The great value, the better value, at least I should say, is David and Joku goes two to three rounds later. You want to be taking David and Joku and this next tight end. And that man's name is Jake Ferguson, which you used to You can see his player profiler headshot here is pretty crazy right now, the former fourth round pick for the Dallas Cowboys, and you can see where he |
| 5:57.2 | currently goes in drafts. We like Jake Ferguson. He goes as the tight end 15, 11th overall pick. So |
