It was quite a cross-country trip heading out to the Utah desert with the newly rescued dog in the backseat and a trip to my old childhood stomping grounds in the great state of Wyoming. Let's hit it.

After my stepdad died, my mom left Wyoming for Utah because it's very difficult to live in a rural, remote area of the

country that gets winter for, you know, let's say seven months out of the year, and that's being

generous. It was just, grocery stores were too far, doctors were too far far my mom just felt like the smart thing to do

would be to relocate permanently to the desert better for her health climate wise you know blah blah

blah but as a result i hadn't been home since my stepfather's funeral which was was, my gosh, 2007. So it had been a long time.

And we were visiting my youngest at her school in Northern Colorado, where she just started

grad school. And last week started teaching undergraduates, which is hysterical to even contemplate because that's my baby.

But we were, you know, Fort Collins where my daughter is, is 45 miles from Cheyenne, Wyoming.
