Today we are looking at John Chapter 15, verse number 17.

This is Jesus summary of the instructions and commands and teaching. He's been giving to

his own disciples prior to him being betrayed and being led to the cross.

And he says in verse 17, these things I command you,

so that you will love one another.

Now that's kind of an interesting statement.

He's giving us commands, instructions,

so that we will love one another.

Now it's usually a thing where, you know,

I picture like a parent saying to the kids

as they're kind of squabbling with each other,

hey, you guys love one another, you guys be loving.

You see, we usually think of it like that, that the parent or the authority is the one

to step in and remind us, encourage us, that we are supposed to love one another.

But Jesus is saying something different than that when he says this statement.

He's saying all these things I've already told you are so that you will love one another.

So the result should be that you love one another.

And what are the things he's told us? Well, he's told us we are to abide in him, remain in him,
