Summary

Especially with a new puppy, you’ll hear 20 times a day, play with your puppy, exercise your puppy, stimulate your puppy so they don’t get bored, bond with them to create a strong relationship…

OK OK, we get it’s important but after 160 games of fetch things get a little…well, boring.

In this episode, I’m going to go through 10 ways to play with your dog. And this is just to get you started, it doesn’t stop here, not even close.  In reality, there are hundreds of ways to play with your dog. I want you and your dog to get creative and take it from here.

With the cold weather settling in here in NJ I decided to concentrate on indoor activities.  It’s easy to take things outside and get all the exercise and entertainment you need. It’s when you’re stuck inside that things get harder.

No matter what activity we do with them, we are entertaining, stimulating, and bonding with them.  It’s tiring them out that can sometimes seem impossible.    That is why I also focused on ways that will up the exercise and tiring out factor.  At the end of the day (literally) what we want is a tired and happy dog!

Your dog will probably have their favorites.  I hope you can find something you love, your dog loves AND gets everyone to sleep!

Let’s get those creative juices going!!  Press play to listen and enjoy!!

1:37.0

which I think is very appropriate because it is one of the most popular questions I get asked about. The only one that might be more is

1:46.7

crate training. So we're going to talk today about leash walking. So specifically I'm going to talk about the top three questions that I get asked.

1:57.2

But first, let's talk about why leash training is so darn hard and why we all seem to struggle with it.

2:05.5

And the main reason is because walking on a leash is one of the hardest things that we ask our dog to do. It's not natural for them.

2:16.3

Okay, going for a walk is natural for them. That is one of the most fundamental things a dog wants to do. They want to get out there and explore and smell

2:27.6

things and see new things. Yes, that is natural to them. What's not natural is walking in a straight line

2:35.6

down a sidewalk tethered to somebody.

2:39.2

And we don't really think of it this way

2:41.7

because, you know, similar to potty training it's just one of those

2:45.2

automatic things like our dogs are going to walk with us we want them to walk

2:48.9

nicely on a leash our dogs just aren't going to go to the bathroom inside the house.

2:54.0

So because it's so automatic for us,

2:56.8

we kind of project that onto our dogs
