Hello, it's not often you'll hear me say this,

but it's been a great year to be a woman, if you're an author, that is,

with women winning almost all our top literary prizes,

plus the biggest international

gong.

The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2013 is awarded the Canadian author Alice Monroe, master

of the contemporary short story.

The winner of the 2013 Man Booker Prize is...

The Luminaries by Eleanor Katten. And the winner of the 2013 Man Booker Prize is... The Luminaries by Eleanor Katyn.

And the winner of the Costa Book of the Year is...

Well, she's done the double.

It's Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Madem.

And it wasn't just Mantelle, Monroe and and Catton, whose work was recognised.

But 2013 also saw Lucy Hughes Hallett win the Samuel Johnson Prize for non-fiction.
