Welcome to the Brain Health Revolution podcast with your hosts, Aisha and Dean Cherzai.

0:11.5

We're so glad to be here with another episode. This one is going to be fun. It's just

0:16.3

Dean and I, and we're going to discuss the research, some of the interesting research that was conducted

0:22.4

in 2022. I know that this is the end of January by the time this episode goes out, but nevertheless,

0:28.9

it's a great opportunity to kind of take a deep dive into some of these fascinating studies

0:35.7

that in many ways are going to set the path for more interesting

0:39.8

studies and expanded ones in 2023.

0:43.5

This is important to us because we think that some of them, some of the studies are kind of

0:48.4

fun, you'll see, interesting and maybe not tremendously groundbreaking, but the rest

0:53.0

are important studies that are creating

0:55.7

the foundation going forward into 23 and beyond. And some of the technology that's coming out

1:01.6

will absolutely change healthcare and especially neuroscience completely. In fact, when we talk to

1:08.8

our medical students, we tell them that if you're going

1:13.0

to the field of medicine and neuroscience especially, have a different perspective because the next

1:19.0

five years will not look the same as the past 200 years. That's how fast we're changing.

1:25.5

So I hope you like some of these topics. Let's start with the one

1:29.5

that talks about napping and dementia. We don't want to shock them into this. So relax,

1:34.9

take it, you know, sit comfortably. And let's start with napping. Napping is fascinating. I remember the two

1:42.9

of us, we created this post for Instagram on napping, and we got a lot of

1:48.6

different messages from our friends in the field of neuroscience because there was no consensus,

1:55.1

let's just put it that way. And that is true. There have been some research done that shows that people who nap on a regular

2:02.6

basis may be at higher risk for cognitive impairment later on in life, but if it's done in a
