As Power Hungry Tech companies look for new ways to fuel their AI data centers,

the race for nuclear energy is on one of the latest deals.

Amazon leading a $500 million investment into X energy, a developer of small modular reactors or

SMRs. Under the agreement Amazon will fund for small reactors in Washington State

joining us now X Energy-energy CEO Clay Shell,

thanks for joining us today.

Now, this one is interesting because we know that big tech

needs energy. They're increasingly turning towards nuclear energy,

which will take some time to get up and running.

But in this case Amazon actually invested in the technology to build SMRs.

How did that come about?

Well we started a conversation with them several months ago and they led a 500 million

round for us which facilitated a lot of other strong capital partners to join them.

But the more important thing that Amazon is doing is they are investing

in actual projects to produce the energy. Many data, hyperscalers have said they want to buy nuclear power and that's great, but that's necessary.

It's not sufficient.

And what Amazon is doing is they're not just buying nuclear power, but they're investing in the capital of the projects to produce it.

So, Clay, does that kind of agreement, though, prevent you from working with some of the other

hyperscalers who we know are going to need some of that energy supply as well?

No, we continue to have dialogue with other hyperscalers as well and we have many customers

that we're continuing to have conversations with. Amazon will be a leader

for us but they will not be our sole customer.
