Solomonster reviews WWE Royal Rumble 2023 as Sami Zayn TURNS on Roman Reigns in the most incredible ending to a Royal Rumble PPV in history. On what was otherwise a very mixed bag of a show, it was The Bloodline story that carried things with the most shocking development yet. Also, Cody Rhodes wins the Royal Rumble and Rhea Ripley punches her ticket to Wrestlemania.

It was a late night for the Royal Rumble. I didn't know if I was watching an AWP review or a WWE

0:05.6

paper view. I wasn't sure there, but it is 12 30 in the morning. As I sit here, Royal

0:12.8

Rumble is my favorite event of the entire year. I'm sure it's probably your favorite

0:17.4

pay-per-view as well. I look forward to it every year. Some years WWE lets me down. Some

0:24.5

years they just give us a rumble that just makes you shake your head and go. This is the

0:27.7

best they can come up with. I think back to last year's Men's Royal Rumble, which was the

0:32.3

most boring Royal Rumble match that I have ever seen. So I had high hopes for Triple H's first

0:39.4

book Royal Rumble this year. And what we ended up with here when this night was over had nothing

0:46.0

to do with the Royal Rumble matches. It's two Royal Rumble matches on this show. And what

0:50.8

people are going to be talking about is not going to have anything to do with Cody Rhodes,

0:56.3

not going to have anything to do with Rhea Ripley. Going to have everything to do with the

1:01.4

angle that we saw at the end of the night. Doesn't even have anything to do with the actual

1:05.7

main event match, which was Roman Reigns against Kevin Owens. That is what they closed the show

1:11.9

with. You knew they were setting up for some kind of big angle. If the Royal Rumble match was not

1:17.2

going on last, something was going to happen. There were reports the Rock's mother was in the crowd

1:24.0

tonight at the Royal Rumble at the Alamo Dome. Early on in the main event, we had Michael

1:28.4

Cole dropping a rock bottom reference, which he never does. And so it got me wondering if they

1:34.3

were saving a big appearance for the end of the show. We didn't get that big appearance.

1:40.0

When this show was over tonight, it wasn't about the Rock. It wasn't about bringing somebody

1:45.4

back from the past. It was about focusing on the men that are involved in not only the greatest

1:51.1

storyline going today in WWE, but I said this before I'll say it again. This is the greatest

1:56.4

storytelling in at least two decades that we have seen in WWE. This bloodline storyline has been
