Summary
I used to not even calculate a client's BMI.
I always just tested their body fat percentage...
But that's no longer the case -
Every one that we work with in my body transformation studio and wellness institute has their Body Mass Index (BMI) tested.
It really is a valuable tool to assess overall health and wellness.
Find out now how to calculate yours and which one of these categories you fall into one into:
* Underweight
* Healthy
* Overweight
* Obese
Don't miss this episode on how to make sure you fall within range and how being within range can help decrease your odds of getting certain diseases, high blood pressure, and even cancer...

| 0:14.4 | And today on this Weight Loss Wednesday edition, |
| 0:17.3 | we're gonna be talking about BMI, |
| 0:19.2 | and that stands for Body Mass Index, |
| 0:21.9 | and whether or not this calculation is a good factor or indicator of your overall |
| 0:28.1 | wellness, weight loss and general well-being. |
| 0:31.8 | So what really is BMI? So BMI you probably heard about |
| 0:35.4 | before because if you're going to the doctors for your annual checkup they'll |
| 0:39.1 | typically give you your BMI and the reason they give you that BMI is because they want to give you an |
| 0:44.3 | overall indicator of how you're doing in terms of your weight and I'll tell you probably |
| 0:49.2 | just 10 years ago or maybe like eight years ago or so I really didn't give BMI as much credit as I believe it |
| 0:56.6 | deserves and here's the thing people always say oh what's not that great of an |

| 1:05.2 | saying that it's not a very good indicator are in good shape and what happens is |
| 1:10.2 | when you're in good shape it is actually skewed, meaning this, you want your ideal |
| 1:15.4 | BMI to be somewhere between 19 and 24.9. Some people say between 18 and 24.9 but really 19 and 24.9. |
| 1:25.0 | Now that's just a number that's a range. |
| 1:26.7 | It could be 20, 21, 22, 23, and you'd be fine. |
| 1:30.4 | Under that means you're essentially underweight and potentially undernourished and over that you're overweight and then once you get to certain levels with BMI you'll also see that once we get over the 30 point mark, 33 point mark, depending on which |
| 1:47.6 | chart you're looking at, you're going to be considered obese. Now I look at it this |
| 1:52.3 | way because I looked at BMI when I was doing |
