So today I'm talking to Chris Spiesack about editing. She has a great novel editing workbook and

we recorded this a few weeks back when I was in the story editing phase of Map of the Impossible.

So it's a good look at the process of self-editing

from the macro level right down to the detail. Because we are writers and self-editing is so

important. Of course you want to work with a professional editor after you have done the most you

can to fix up your book. Now this is is primarily for fiction authors, but a lot of the

tips are also useful for nonfiction and memoir authors, as we all need to deepen our writing

and improve our editing process. So that is coming up. In publishing news, Apple is discontinuing iBooks author, as reported on Mac Rumors,

withdrawing it from the store on the 1st of July, encouraging writers to transition to pages,

which has all the same functionality now. So from the Mac Rumors site says two years ago we bought book creation into

pages with key features such as the ability to work on iPad, collaborate with others on a shared

book, draw with Apple, pencil and more. Pages is a great platform for making books. And if you don't

remember, IBooks author was for much more sort of, let's say,

exciting book design. But remember, they also launched authors.com a few weeks back as a portal

for Apple publishing and also enabled PC users to publish direct to Apple Books.

So it's good to see that Apple is really investing in making the books program easier to access

and not to have so many different options.
