Hello creatives. I'm Joanna Penn and this is episode number 498 of the podcast and it it is Friday 17th of July 2020 as I record this.

So today I'm talking to Lindsay Baroka about how she manages her writing with eight to 10 novels a year in multiple series,

and she shares a lot of tips about writing effectively in a series in order to please readers and also

make more money because we do live in this binge consumption culture and the best love stories

are often those that allow a deeper experience of character and world think of your favorite

TV shows or books and you will likely find a few series in there. Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Walking

Dead, Stranger Things, Harry Potter, James Bond, fill in your favourite here. We even get annoyed

now if a whole series is not available at once and when a new series that we like drops on

Netflix or Amazon Prime or whatever TV show you watch now, we will binge it

and we might even wait until the whole series is complete before starting it so we can

immerse ourselves. And the same is true of book series. So taking it seriously is important.

Also, writing a series can make you more money. Since you have more books for a reader to buy,

you can turn them into box sets in different formats, and it's faster to write with characters

you know well. So we'll talk about all that, Lindsay's writing process plus a lot of mindset

and career things in today's show. A lot of it is relevant to nonfiction as well,

so I know you'll find it interesting.
