When it comes to LGBTQ people and conversations, how often do you engage as a Christian? The truth is, most of us have NO IDEA how to engage in these crucial conversations in a way that's loving, thoughtful, Biblical, and truthful.
And so we don't.
Our guest today is here to HELP US. Andrew T. Walker is the author of the book, "God and the Transgender Debate: What Does the Bible Actually Say about Gender Identity?"
He's the type of Christian who actually invites LGBTQ people out to coffee because he genuinely CARES about them. And he's going to show us how to do the same.

0:00.0 | Hey, sisterhood. Today on The Girl Defined Show, we are talking about some heavy big topics, |
0:05.1 | but some much needed ones that I personally still have a lot of questions about. I'm excited |
0:10.0 | to learn today as we dive into transgenderism, personal pronouns, things that have become so common |
0:16.2 | and so mainstream, things that we're all encountering in our schools and our work, questions at |
0:20.6 | home and our churches. And for so many of us, we don't know how to talk about it. We don't know how |
0:24.8 | to navigate it. We don't know how to engage in these topics and with these people in a loving |
0:30.8 | way, in a biblical way, and just in a way that shows compassion and grace, but without compromising |
0:37.1 | on truth. How do we do that? I brought an expert guest on today. Andrew T. Walker is here with me |
0:42.8 | to help us guide, to help guide us through all of this right now here on The Girl Defined Show. |
0:47.4 | Andrew, welcome. It is so good to have you. Kristen, thanks for the invitation. I'm really |
0:54.8 | honored to be here. Yeah, so you wrote a book, not a light and fluffy book, but a pretty hard |
1:00.2 | hitting, very, very helpful book called God and the Transgender Debate. What does the Bible |
1:05.9 | actually say about gender identity? I have to say right off the bat, you are very brave for |
1:11.4 | writing this book. I appreciate that. Yeah, I am someone who I want to be charitable and kind, |
1:19.3 | but I also like you just mentioned in your introduction, I care about truth. And especially when |
1:26.4 | you have something of such importance to what it means to be human, if I can call Christians to |
1:32.8 | understand that the truthful position on this is also the most loving position. I think we're |
1:39.4 | in a win-win scenario, even if it's not received popularly in the culture. Yeah, and we're going to |
1:45.9 | get into all of that, but I have to say right off the bat, I was out with my boys, I have two boys, |
1:50.4 | 13 and nine, and we were out doing something the other day, and this person walked by, and they |
1:55.6 | were actually doing something really kind. They were picking up trash randomly in the parking lot, |
1:58.8 | and one of my boys was like, oh, look at that woman, she's so kind, she's picking up trash. |
