Three minutes after ten is the time. A very good morning indeed to you and, well, fairly scary events unfolding unfolding overnight although I think it's very important

to admit ignorance when ignorance is part of your own personal problem it seems from most cursory readings

of the situation that the assassination of the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, let's get this nomenclature correct,

will not leave many sensible people mourning, but just to give you an illustration,

and I make no apology for beginning at the very bottom, if you were to say to the average punter, along the lines of are we for or against ISIS, right?

Then whether American or European or, well, almost everywhere, really, you would say we are against ISIS.

And then this chap Soleimani gets assassinated. He's described

widely as the de facto deputy head of Iran. Iranian-backed militias have been attacking the US embassy

in Baghdad. That presumably is the pretext for this strike. But if I then said to you, well,

he is widely regarded as having been a crucial part of Assad's resistance of ISIS, then at least

for a nanosecond, you could be forgiven for somehow thinking that they were on the same side,

as in my enemy's

enemy is my friend.

Not the case, clearly.

But you then have to remember that being implicit in President Assad's war, but not implicit,

being intimately involved in President Assad's fight against ISIS involves complicity in war crimes.

And the guy seems to me to be a monster.

And therefore, his removal from the world stage is probably a good thing.

And yet it was ordered without any congressional approval by a president of the United States of America who, and I'll play you the clip,

there's always a clip, there's always a tweet in 2011, was explaining why the only way in which

a American president devoid of any negotiating skills could ever hope to achieve a second
