Summary

Will we ever get to stop hearing about Dr. Fauci? Does anyone even remember COVID anymore? These are the sorts of profound questions that define our times. I will not be answering them. Instead, I want to tell you a Very Young Heretics story about how the pagan gods found their way into modern science--and why they might be finding their way back out again in the age of "The Science" (TM). 0:00.0	Do you guys think we will ever be free of Dr. Fauchy? I'm watching him in these house hearings now in front of Congress and I'm just feeling like I've been with this man for a thousand years. He's been there my whole life.
0:16.1	There was never a time when Dr. Fauchy was not at the center of public life and I am so sick of this guy's stupid face. You know what the Dr. Fauchy hearings really make me think of because I have to tell you I'm not usually a cynical person. I'm somebody that wants to believe in hope and wants to think about how we can work to make things better, but I have almost no hope that these hearings will bring out anything conclusive about Dr. Fauchy's role in COVID. I just think people have already
0:56.8	made their decisions about that. Fauchy's going to go to his grave denying that he covered
1:01.1	up the research into the origins of COVID, that he lied about why
1:06.8	masks were necessary and how many masks were necessary, that he lied about lying.

1:17.0	They are studiously denied by Fauchy and his accolades, and I think we've all just kind of dug in on this. I doubt very much that we're going to have the reckoning that some of us long for, but it's still kind of an interesting experience to be reacquainted with Dr. Fauchy at this moment in the news
1:35.6	because what it really makes me think about is how did this putts, this little guy,
1:41.7	turn into the world's priest.
1:45.1	For years, it felt like.
1:47.5	There was a time when what Dr. Fauchy said
1:50.5	was the closest thing we had in our culture to the pronouncements of the Pope.
1:57.0	If you think about what it would have been like to live in the medieval era,

2:03.0	If the Pope said, we're all wearing funny hats on Wednesdays now,

2:08.0	That was simply the voice of absolute truth.
2:11.0	That's kind of what Fauchy was like for a lot of people for a long time.
2:16.4	And this era in our history, this moment in our public history has disappeared into a kind of
2:22.1	haze, a dream-like haze, as if it's something we all just slept through.
2:26.2	And I feel this way too, even though I was really involved in the news and watching everything very closely when COVID hit and lived through it all.
