If their discipleship is built on distance rather than discipline and discipleship, then they're not being equipped for life.

Welcome, friends. Well, hold on to your hat. We're talking about fear-based boundaries and the cost to women in the church today. In today's conversation may feel tender for some of us,

not because it's meant to provoke, but because it touches a quiet tension

that I think many churches live with every week. And I think we live with in the big sea church

of the kingdom of God. And this is what it is. What comes between brothers and sisters in Christ and what keeps us from

functioning like family. Now, what does that have to do with women in particular? Well, you're going to

see this episode I want you to know is prayed over like every episode. It's biblically informed.

And it is not here for shock value, because that's not what I do here. I want to say this right up front. I don't bring up topics to stir controversy.

We've talked about a lot of difficult topics on the Jesus Over Everything show through the years. You can look in the catalog.

It's always been something that I've been interested in, and it's not because I've wanted to talk

about hot topics, for sure, but because a lot of times these topics are things that we don't

want to talk about. And I bring topics up that I believe matter

to the body of Christ. And often the things that matter most are the things that we've avoided

talking about because they feel, I think, complicated. They lack clarity. They have been

controversial. We don't want to be misunderstood. And sometimes there's been a price tag

attached to talking about them. But if we're going to be the church, if we're going to reflect Jesus,

then we've got to be willing to talk about what's happening beneath the surface. And so

today we're talking about boundaries. We're talking about integrity. We're talking about the

unintended messages that we send, I think, sometimes in the church. And sometimes this happens

even through policies that I think get framed as wisdom, but can quietly form a culture of

fear and distance and have been really wounding to women in particular. So let me say this clearly at the start. I've talked about this and other shows in this series, but if you're listening to this one and you haven't listened to the others, maybe you haven't followed me for a while, maybe you don't know my heart, you haven't seen what I've written through the years and you don't know me. Let me just say it from the start.
