This podcast will help you embrace the history and depth of the Christian faith,

0:11.8

ask questions, seek answers, and devote yourself to becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ.

You don't have to settle for water down Christian teaching. And if you're ready to go deeper,

God is just as ready to take you there. This is Verity, where every woman is a theologian.

Welcome back friends. We are diving into essentially what is the second half of the marriage

0:36.1

episode in talking about women in the church. So many of the passages that we discussed in the

0:42.6

marriage episode have implications for women in the church and the interpretations of scripture

0:48.8

on that topic. And so if you haven't listened to that episode, I do recommend going back

0:53.5

listening to it and using that as the foundation as we move into our discussion of what women

1:00.4

can and can't do according to the Bible when it comes to the church. Now, as we talked about in

1:07.6

that episode, there are two main camps or two main views on scripture regarding this topic.

are equal in value and interchangeable in role. So they can do all of the same things, roles,

1:37.2

leading, pastoring, et cetera, that a man could do. Whereas in most complementarian churches,

1:45.2

you are going to see a male pastor, either just a male head pastor with a variety of men and women

1:53.1

in the deacon and elder roles or in assistant pastor roles, or some churches, a more hardcore

2:01.1

complementarian church. It would be only men in all leadership roles and women would not be

2:06.9

leading in any capacity. So I do want to be sure to say, as we start this out, that there is a

2:12.2

spectrum of views on this issue across many denominations, you would tend to see more of a

2:21.2

complementarian stance in your Presbyterian or your PCA churches, your Southern Baptist churches,
