Garza has become one of the most influential voices on the planet in a movement centered around the liberation of black people from authoritative systemic violence. About Black Lives Matter / Black Lives Matter Global Network In 2013, three radical Black organizers — Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi — created a Black-centered political will and movement building project called #BlackLivesMatter. The project is now a member-led global network of more than 40 chapters. Their members organize and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and Black Futures Lab & Black to the Future Action Fund About Black Futures Lab As Principal of The Black Futures Lab, Alicia works to transform Black communities into constituencies that change the way power operates—locally, statewide and nationally. The problems facing the Black communities are complex—the solutions require experimentation, innovation, and political power. Quotes ‘My greatest strength, I have thick skin and a soft heart” - Alicia Garza “Be courageous enough to be yourself at all times.” - Alicia Garza “People often say that [oppressed] communities are like crabs in a bucket, but no one mentions that the bucket is not the crabs' natural habitat.”- Alicia Garza “Thank you for being willing to be re-organized.” - Alicia Garza to Andy Grammer "This movement can't just be mine, it has to be yours. You have to see this as tied to your liberation. And if you don't, there's no incentive for us to change.." - Alicia Garza “Systems are people made so they can be undone by people as well.” - Alicia Garza Guest Social Links: ALICIA GARZA: Instagram: @chasinggarza Twitter: @aliciagarza Subscribe to the Man Enough newsletter for behind the scenes, updates, sneak peeks of new episodes, and positive masculinity content: https://manenough.com/newsletter Read the Man Enough book: https://manenough.com/books Order the Boys Will Be Human book: https://boyswillbehuman.com FOLLOW THE HOSTS: Justin Baldoni https://instagram.com/justinbaldoni https://www.tiktok.com/@justinbaldoni https://facebook.com/justinbaldoni https://twitter.com/justinbaldoni Text: +1 (310) 845-6909 Liz Plank https://instagram.com/feministabulous https://tiktok.com/@lizplank https://facebook.com/feministabulous https://twitter.com/feministabulous http://www.elizabethplank.com/ Jamey Heath https://instagram.com/jamey_heath_ https://tiktok.com/@jameyheath https://twitter.com/jamey_heath_ https://facebook.com/jameyjaz http://www.jameyheath.com/ Thank you to Hello Fresh for supporting our show!
