Well, it's January, a month of both literal and metaphorical belt tightening.

So we're going to be talking about women and money.

From the gender pay gap, currently at around 18%, and not set to close for another century,

to the cultural attitudes that could be holding us back.

As Joan Rivers observed, people will tell you money's not the key to happiness,

but I always figured if you have enough, you can get a key made.

billed as the very first blog about young people's finances.

Iona, is it true that you started it when your piggy bank was stolen?

Yeah, so this was when I didn't know very much about money.

I was working as a musician and I built up some funds from doing these gigs with this fabulous singer.

And I got back to my parents' house where I was staying at the time.

And my room was totally ransacked.

And I thought, what has happened here?

I realised I'd been bargled and I thought, piggy bank, where's my money? I went to the

piggy bank. Of course, it wasn't there. It completely disappeared and it has to be one of the

most surreal moments of my life describing this piggy bank to a police officer, you know, saying,
