with Miles Morales. And I do obviously want to say that as someone who is biracial and partly

non-white herself, a character simply being mixed race or not white is not enough itself, a

political statement or anything like that. Unless, of course, the creators of the character explicitly

state that it is, which is exactly what happened here. As radar online reports, Marvel comics

editor-in-chief Axel Alonso said Miles Morales, the half-black half-Hispanic heir apparent to

the late Peter Parker was partially inspired by President Barack Obama. The obvious question was,

when you have an iconic figure of this importance die, who do you replace him with?
