Content Director here at Word on Fire. A couple weeks back we shared a

homily that Bishop Aaron preached at the Baccalaureate Mass for graduates of

the University of St. Thomas at Houston. He visited the school a few weeks ago

in early May, May 7th, to preach at the Baccalaureate Mass, but then the next

day may 8th. He also delivered the commencement address to the graduating

class and received an honorary doctorate. He said in his commencement

address that the entire point of a Catholic intellectual formation is to

produce great souls. A great soul, he says, doesn't invent his own values,

rather, he intuits the marvelous intellectual moral and aesthetic values that

are found in the objective order and then he responds to them with his whole

heart. And as a result, Bishop says, he stretches out to great things. That's

the entire goal of intellectual formation and moral formation to stretch out to

great things, hence the title of this commencement address. So we hope you

enjoyed the homily a couple weeks ago and we hope you enjoy the commencement
