Bishop Barron, welcome.

0:17.6

Brandon, good morning. Always great to be with you.

You get to see a lot of movies. You've commented on tons of them over the years, but you recently

0:25.4

saw one that you've been very, very high on. You've been very positive about it. Tell us

0:30.0

about that.

0:31.0

Oh, yeah. Ingrid goes west. I think I saw a coming attraction for several weeks ago. I

0:35.5

knew nothing about it. It looked kind of quirky and funny. So I wouldn't see it. And it's

0:39.5

actually a very searching movie, I think, about our contemporary culture and the obsession

0:45.0

with the iPhone and how that's distorted a lot of our lifestyles, our relationships.

0:52.8

It's a funny movie. It's kind of a dark comedy, but it's a very incisive commentary, I think,

0:58.6

on the way we've created false selves really around the iPhone and how it precludes the

1:06.5

possibility often of a real encounter of the person right in front of you, the living,

1:13.1

breathing person in front of you. And so I thought it was helpful for especially a lot

1:18.9

of people in this so-called eye gen, people who have come of age in the last 15 years or

1:23.8

so, who've never known a world without the smartphone. People that, in many cases, are

1:31.8

literally sleeping with their iPhones. I mean, the kids and the young people that will

1:36.4

fall asleep with the iPhone, next to them, that the last thing they do before they go to

1:40.8

sleep is look at the first thing in the morning, they look at the smartphone. That's doing

1:45.1

something to us, which is not altogether good. And Ingrid goes west is about that.

1:49.2

Well, just to affirm that we were not totally at the technology, we got some exciting news,
