Robert Barron, Bishop Barron. Welcome. Hey Brandon, how you doing today? Doing wonderful.

Now this is the first episode that we've recorded since the recent US CCB meeting. That's

the US conference of Catholic bishops. Tell us a little bit about that. There was a surprising

moment for you in particular. Give us a rundown of how that meeting went. Yeah, it's good.

It's my second one now as a bishop. We gather in November in Baltimore at a hotel and almost

all the bishops, all the active bishops, a lot of the retired two come to that. It's a big

group, 300 or so. We go through a lot of business items in the course of about three days.

Also opportunities for discussion of some serious, more theoretical issues. We have meals

together, a lot of presentations are made. So it's a chance for the bishops to really kind

of get in the same page, see each other talk. It's also an opportunity to elect officers.

And so this year, for example, we elected Cardinal DiNardo as the president of the conference.

And then my own boss, our spaceship Gomez, out here as the vice president. I think the

surprise you're referring to is that I was elected chair of the committee on evangelization

and catacesis. So last summer, I was invited to run for this. And honestly, I really mean

that honestly, I was surprised and kind of taking it back. I just knew at this game, I was

at the time or day in a bishop less than a year. And so I was some hesitation to put my

name in, but I truly didn't think I'd be elected. I thought I'm too new in the conference.

But you know, people probably know me and they know my work. And so I was elected. And

it means I spend a year as kind of chair elect. And then next November, I'll actually take

over as the chair of that committee. Now, obviously, it's too early for you to lay out a game

plan of what you'd like to see happen or what would you like to see changed. But what are
