| 0:16.0 | Now, it's been a few weeks since your trip to Krakow for World Youth Day. And we haven't |
| 0:20.7 | talked about it yet. So give us some feedback. What was it like? What were some of the major |

| 0:27.1 | Unbelievable. It was one of the great experiences of my life. I really mean that. I think |
| 0:31.6 | of the first night when I met through the good administrations of George Wigel, I met |
| 0:37.4 | with a number of these men and women now in their high 70s and 80s who were members of |
| 0:43.5 | John Paul II's youth group back in the 1940s and 50s. These were the young people that |
| 0:50.3 | Carl Voity will gathered at St. Florian's parish in Krakow. And they became the core of |
| 0:56.8 | World Youth Day. Because with these people, he went kayaking and he went skiing and camping. |
| 1:02.2 | And on those trips, he formed them in Catholic spirituality and theology. And despite all |
| 1:09.2 | the efforts of the Communist authorities to shape young people, Carl Voity will want |
| 1:14.0 | it to counter shape, you know, a group. And these people stayed with him all those years. |
| 1:18.5 | As he married them and baptized their children and their grandchildren, they came to see him |
| 1:23.6 | when he was Pope and Rome. It was very moving. I'm there in this kind of little hot apartment |
| 1:30.6 | and with these wonderful people, along with several bishops, Cardinal Dolan was there, Bishop |
| 1:36.4 | Aproche of Springfield was there, Bishop Conley of Lincoln, all people that have a real devotion |
| 1:41.4 | to John Paul II. And these wonderful people told the story after story about him. And as |
| 1:46.6 | they were telling the story through the open windows, we could hear all of the songs and |
| 1:52.4 | the chants and the cries of these young people gathering in Krakow. And it just struck |
