Welcome back to the Word on Fire Show. I'm Brandon Vaat, the host, and with me, as always,

0:08.5

is the founder of Word on Fire and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles,

Now, in the last episode, we talked about your upcoming trip to the Philippines. You're heading

0:23.8

over there in about a week here at the end of January, 2016, for the International Eucharistic

0:30.9

Congress. You're going to be giving three talks there. One is the main doctrinal talk on the Eucharist,

0:36.9

two thousands of people. Then you have a breakout session on the new evangelization. Then you're

0:43.8

giving a third talk to a bunch of the youth in Seibu City and the Philippines. This talk you're

Leon Blau, because it revolutionized the life of the young Jacques Meritin, the greatest Catholic

1:40.4

philosopher of the 20th century, and Mary Taz, a young man, had decided that if he couldn't discover

1:46.2

the meaning of life within a year, he would kill himself. He was a kind of despairing French

academic. He was caught up in all the materialism and relativism of that time. He resolved. He

said, well, I'll give myself a year to find what makes life meaningful. If I don't find it,

2:05.2

it's curtains for me. Well, during that year, he stumbled across a number of interesting people.

2:11.1

But one of them was Leon Blau, whom we knew personally. And that quote that you just gave,
